Now it’s about to get radical. You know that traditional organisation chart with rectangles, specialist areas and vertical reporting lines? Yeah, we’ve tossed that out of the window. Working with people who do the exact same thing that you do and confining decision making to the people sitting at the top does not make for a creative, innovative workplace. Power, compartmentalisation, narrow job descriptions - they kill creativity. So we’ve decided to do things a little differently.

A new Personal Manager every year!?

That’s right. It’s your call. Every year you can choose your boss. You can even make yourself the boss. This way you get to try out different chairs and see which one fits you best. You want even more power? Then declare yourself Process Owner. Process Owners reign over lots of different kingdoms – our social activities, sales and marketing or a more profession-related area. You get money and help (of course) and your very own target to reach. At the end of the year, you can either pass the baton to someone else, or keep the power for yourself, all based on where you would like your career to go next.

The world of your Delivery Team

So we work in what we call Delivery Teams. These teams are divided up based on what the members can do and the partners and clients they service. Each team leads itself and the members have wildly different talents. It’s up to the team to divide up the assignments and duties, including everything from advising to delivering the final product. Each team answers to the client and Valtech’s incredibly high quality standards. The decision making power is within the team alone.

Check your self-perceptions at the door

Say you usually describe yourself as a programmer. Well on your delivery team you can expect to wear far more hats than that – basically whatever the team needs. It means no two days will be alike, and you’ll stretch your professional craftsmanship, and your work euphoria, together with your teammates.

In a constant state of flux

We don’t believe in a static organisation. So we’re constantly evolving and changing, with new Managers, Process Owners and structures – which create plenty of opportunities to grow for you, your team and our workplace
